About part number L8B2-17F775-A

A front bumper centre grill forms part of the front bodywork and cooling system. It sits in the middle of the front bumper, protecting the radiator and engine bay from road debris while allowing airflow into the engine compartment. When it is correctly fitted, the front of the vehicle presents a clean appearance with no exposed components or loose trim.

To confirm this component is correct for your vehicle, match part number L8B2-17F775-A exactly with the reference on your original item. On plastic body trims like this, the manufacturer part number is usually stamped or moulded directly into the rear surface of the plastic casing. Matching this number is what decides if the part will fit.

This part is commonly replaced after impact damage from stone chips, minor accidents, or broken mounting clips. Anyone fitting a replacement grill often requires new plastic fixing clips, screws, or surrounding trim fasteners, as the original fixings can snap when the old part is removed.

About this kind of part: grilles

A grille is the moulded panel across the front of a car that lets air through to the radiator and carries the maker's badge. On a modern car it is rarely one piece: there is usually an upper grille set into the bonnet line, a lower grille in the bumper cover, and separate side inserts. Many now also hold the forward radar, a camera or the active shutters that close off the airflow, so the same model can take several different grilles depending on what was specified when new.

Why people replace one

  • A stone or a light knock has broken one of the slats, which cannot be glued back without showing.
  • The chrome or bright finish on the surround has lifted and started to flake, which spreads once the plating is broken.
  • The clips along the back have snapped, so the grille stands away from the bumper cover at one corner.
  • A badge mount has broken and the badge no longer sits flat.
  • The gloss black finish has gone dull and grey from washing and road grit.

Fitting it

  • A grille is usually held by clips around its edge and a few screws reached from behind, which often means taking the bumper cover off to reach them.
  • The badge, any surround trim and the radar or camera bracket normally transfer from the old grille.
  • Work the clips from behind rather than pulling on the slats, which break easily when cold.
  • If the grille carries a radar or a camera, that unit will usually need aiming or calibrating after it is disturbed.

Making sure it is the right one

  • Match the part number moulded on the back. A grille from a different trim level will clip in and sit correctly while being the wrong pattern or the wrong finish.
  • Check whether the grille has an opening or a mount for a radar or a camera. One without the mount cannot carry the unit, and one with it looks wrong on a car that has none.
  • Compare the finish as well as the shape: the same grille is made in gloss black, in a bright finish and in body colour, and these are separate part numbers.
  • Count the fixing points and compare their positions with your own grille before buying.

What to look for in the photographs

A Part number — Moulded into the back of the frame, often near an edge. This is the number to match.
B Radar or camera mount — An opening, a bracket or a blanking panel behind the badge. Compare it with your own grille, because this is what varies most between trim levels.
C Clips and mounting tabs — The row of clips and tabs around the back edge. Count them and look for any that are broken.
D Badge mount — The seat the maker's badge fits into. The badge is a separate part.
E Slats and mesh — Look along the slats rather than at them, which shows a cracked or missing one that a flat photograph hides.
F Surround finish — The outer frame: bright, gloss black or body colour. The finish is part of what you are matching.
