About part number 32296474A retractable tow bar is an under-chassis towing attachment that allows a vehicle to haul a trailer, caravan, or bike rack. It connects directly to the structural mounting points of the rear chassis and integrates with the vehicle electrical system to operate the deploy mechanism and trailer lighting. When deployed and working correctly, it provides a secure connection for towing, and when retracted, it folds neatly behind the rear bumper out of sight. To ensure this is the correct item for your vehicle, you must check that your original part number matches 32296474. On a folding tow bar unit, the part number is typically stamped into the main steel crossbar structure or printed on an identification label attached near the electrical socket mechanism. Matching this exact number is the only way to confirm correct fitment, as vehicle models and years are not a reliable guide. When replacing a retractable tow bar, you often need replacement mounting bolts, dedicated wiring modules, or bumper cut-out trims. These units are usually replaced due to mechanical wear in the folding swivel joint, electrical motor failure, or damage sustained from a rear-end impact. |
