About part number 8Y0955449A screen wash bottle is a reservoir that holds fluid for the windscreen and headlight washer system. It connects to the washer pump, fluid hoses, and jet nozzles, and it often holds a level sensor. When the system works correctly, pulling the wash stalk instantly sprays fluid onto the glass so the wipers can clear dirt and maintain a clear view ahead. To check if this part is correct for your vehicle, match the part number 8Y0955449 directly with the number stamped or printed on your original unit. You will usually find this number molded into the plastic body or printed on an attached label. Matching the part number is the only way to guarantee it will fit, as vehicle models use different reservoir shapes and mounting points. People usually replace a washer bottle if the plastic cracks, splits from frost, or suffers damage in a front-end impact, which causes fluid to leak out. When fitting a replacement reservoir, you may also need new rubber seals or grommets for the washer pump and level sensor to ensure a watertight fit.
