About part number FK72-442K03A tailgate boot trim is an exterior body moulding that mounts onto the rear door of the vehicle. It covers the lower edge or panel area of the boot, protecting the bodywork from minor scuffs and providing a clean, finished appearance to the rear styling. When it is fitted correctly and working as intended, the trim sits flush against the panel, keeps out road dirt, and enhances the overall visual finish of the tailgate. To ensure this is the correct part for your vehicle, you must match the exact part number from your original moulding. The manufacturer part number for this item is FK72-442K03. On exterior body trims, this number is usually stamped or molded into the plastic on the reverse side of the panel, so you will need to remove or inspect the existing trim to confirm the reference code before ordering. This type of trim is commonly replaced due to impact damage, cracked plastic, deep surface scratches, or broken mounting tabs that prevent it from staying secured. When fitting a replacement tailgate trim, you often need replacement plastic retaining clips or double-sided automotive adhesive tape, as the original fasteners frequently break or lose tension during removal. |
