About part number L1TB-16C657-AAA bonnet release cable is part of the body control and panel latching system on a vehicle. It connects the interior release lever inside the cabin to the primary bonnet latch mechanism at the front of the engine bay. When the driver pulls the internal handle, the cable pulls the latch open so the bonnet can be lifted safely for maintenance. To confirm this is the correct part, check the engineering number stamped into or printed on the plastic sheath or metal end fittings of your existing cable. The manufacturer part number to match for this item is L1TB-16C657-AA. Matching this exact number ensures correct length, end fittings, and mounting points, regardless of vehicle model or year. These cables are usually replaced when the inner wire stretches, frays, snaps, or seizes inside the outer sleeve due to corrosion and age. When installing a replacement cable, technicians often use fresh cable retaining clips and grease for the bonnet latch mechanism to ensure smooth operation. |
