About part number K8D217E702This part is an exterior side view mirror cover, which forms part of the door mirror assembly on the left-hand side of the vehicle. It attaches to the outer housing of the wing mirror to shield the internal electrical components, wiring, and motor mechanisms from weather damage and road debris. When the correct cover is securely fitted, it provides a smooth, neat finish that matches the exterior trim of the vehicle and keeps the mirror unit protected. To confirm that this item is correct for your vehicle, you must check that your original part displays the manufacturer part number K8D217E702. On mirror covers, this code is usually stamped or molded into the inner plastic casing on the reverse side of the panel. Matching this part number exactly is the only way to ensure the cover will fit your mirror housing correctly. Mirror covers are most commonly replaced after suffering scuffs, cracks, or impact damage from tight parking spaces or roadside hazards, or when the original casing has lost its retaining clips. When fitting a replacement cover, you may also need plastic trim removal tools to release the old housing safely, or replacement mounting clips if the original fixings have snapped during removal.
