About part number 490016VU1BAn electric steering rack converts the turning motion of the steering wheel into the side-to-side movement that turns the front road wheels. Connected to the steering column and the front suspension track rod ends, it uses an integrated electric motor to provide power assistance. When functioning correctly, it provides smooth, precise steering effort and consistent response at the driver's hands. To confirm that this electric steering rack is correct for your vehicle, you must check that the manufacturer part number 490016VU1B matches the number on your original unit. On a steering rack, this part number is typically stamped or printed on a label attached to the main aluminium casing or near the electric motor housing. Matching the part number precisely is the only way to guarantee correct fitment and electrical compatibility. A steering rack is usually replaced due to internal mechanical wear, damage from an impact, or electronic failure within the assist motor and sensor module. When replacing this component, it is common practice to fit new track rod ends and secure the power wiring harness connectors. The vehicle will also require a full front-wheel tracking alignment after installation. |
